We offer a wide variety of high-quality evaluation and training programs for persons who have many varied disabilities and illnesses. All of our programs are taught by caring, trained staff who will work closely with you. Whether you have worked for years or have never worked before, we can help you learn new skills and refine others to reach your job goals. Our services include:

  • Adapted Driver Education  - assesses the potential of people with disabilities to drive and operate modified vehicles equipped with individually prescribed devices. The ability to independently travel to work, social events, medical appointments, etc. is among the most valued service offered by CEI to Long Island residents. Learn More
  • Adult Learning Services  - assists adults to improve their academic skills needed to qualify for higher levels of training, education and employment. These services include Adult Basic Education, GED training and preparation for civil service and other pre-employment examinations. Learn More
  • Business Skills with Office Technology & Applications Training  - Get ready for the corporate world by preparing for a variety of positions in a modern business office. Using state-of-the-art technologies and popular business software, participants learn practical job skills ranging from Data Entry and Administrative Assistant to Accounting Clerk and Microsoft Office Application Specialist.   • Career Assessment  - evaluates and matches interests, skills and work abilities with individual career goals. Individuals are assessed to determine their potential for higher education and for any skill(s) required to achieve their job goals. Learn More
  • Case Management Services  - provides support and guidance to program participants throughout their participation in evaluation and/or training, and helps them to clarify and to reach their career goals. Learn More
  • Home Health Aid (HHA)  - North Shore LIJ Region Care Nursing Agency has partnered with Abilities, Inc. to provide another viable training source. The training course provides a complete introduction to home health care. It gives consumers an opportunity to use both their sense of caring and the knowledge of principles, practices and skills of patient care.   • Laboratory Assistant Training  - Participate in an actual laboratory setting using state-of-the art equipment to prepare for positions in clinical, environmental, pharmaceutical or research laboratories. Learn to perform laboratory procedures and maintenance, and develop problem-solving skills. The teaching strategy ensures that each student is fully proficient in performing laboratory procedures and familiar with interview techniques upon completion of the program. Internships at leading pharmaceutical, clinical and environmental companies are offered to help expose the student to lab duties in various roles.   • Placement Services  - directs and supports individual job searches by identifying work preferences, matching job skills with labor market needs, improving interview techniques and developing effective resumes. Learn More
  • Printing, Packaging Shipping and Mailroom Services (PPSM)  - Approved by the New York State Education Department Bureau of Proprietary Schools Supervision BPSS. The newly developed UPS/Mailboxes Etc., Inc. Store will prepare students for work in an office or mailroom environment. Students will learn all aspects of providing services and assisting management in a UPS Store or similar environment. Learn More
  • Steps Toward Employment Program (STEP)  - Focus is on developing work behaviors and skills that will lead to employment. Members of the business community provide opportunities for participants to learn assembly, retailing, food service and maintenance. Learn More
