Career Assessment

Objective:

To match interests, skills and work abilities with career goals.

Duration:

Eight to twenty-five days, depending on your needs.

Description:

The assessment will help to clarify some of your vocational goals, whether you have never worked or have a long work history and need to re-consider a new career. The assessment takes place Monday through Friday, 9:30am -3:30pm daily. Some of the assignments you will be given will be untimed. Some you will find easier to complete than others. However, no studying is needed beforehand. Just come in and try your best!

The assessment will focus on:

  • Academics (such as reading and writing)
  • Skills and strengths you may already have
  • Aptitudes for new areas
  • Skill areas to be strengthened with training

At the end of the assessment, a written summary report will be provided to your referring counselor. It will make recommedations regarding career goals that you may wish to pursue. Everyone has strenghs and interests, and our goal is to find yours!

We are pleased to announce that we have acquired the new Vocational Interest Temperament Aptitude System (VITAS) that features 21 engaging work samples to accurately test and evaluate an individual's hands-on skills in the following work areas:

  • Laboratory Technology: Laboratory Assistant, Pharmacy Assistant
  • Materials Control: Pharmacy Helper, Shipping and Receiving Clerk
  • Production Technology: Assembler, Printer
  • Financial Detail: Bank Teller, Post Office Clerk, Cashier
  • Oral Communications: Hotel Clerk, Telephone Operator, Customer Service
  • Records Processing: Claims Clerk, Order Clerk, Mail Clerk
  • Clerical Machine Operation: Data Entry, Food Checker
  • Clerical Handling: Sorter, Office Clerk, File Clerk

The featured work samples are:

  • Very engaging and culturally sensitive.
  • Customized to specific job titles and their responsibilities.
  • Particularly good for people with limited language skills (or are non-English speaking), have never worked before, or have little practical experience.
